In this blog I will try to give some insight as to why you may want a trained professional to perform the installation of your new digital readout system for your machine tool. FIRST: A BIT OF BACKGROUND ON MYSELF AND OUR COMPANY.. Accurate Measurement Systems in St. Louis Missouri USA was started by my late father Ronald W. Albietz in 1980. We learned this craft from one of the fore fathers of the industry. Dad was there at the beginning at Emerson Electric when they developed one of the first aftermarket Digital read out systems for sale to the public. We grew up watching and learning from a very early age. So although I have only been at AMS since 1980, I was helping dad as early as 14 years of age install these systems during the summer When we were off school. We would load up the old Chevy station wagon and hit the road. Spending much of this time in what we now call the "Rust Belt" which went from the steel mills and their support shops in Chicago's south side all along lake Michigan up into Ohio and Pennsylvania and up into New York state. All the way to Bangor, Maine to GE and Bath Iron Works where today they build some of our finest Navy ships. And way too many other shops and industries to mention. So when we advise our clients as to how we would do a particular installation, most times they listen with their full attention. We enjoy a wonderful reputation and we are one of the nations largest distribution centers for all of the major brands of DRO. We have a full service center where we service equipment that had long been out of factory support. We custom build components for special applications and we are quite often asked to consult for some of the worlds best known machine tool builders on scale and encoder applications for CNC control systems.
